Construction

Fan Plenum
As a standard, the fan plenum is constructed of electro galvanised steel sheet power-coated to RAL 9010 white color. Larger units such as the 1200mm × 1200mm are constructed of 1.2mm-thick material. Other material such as aluminum and stainless steel are available upon request. The fan is suspended on a mounting plate with purpose-designed neoprene isolators to minimise transmission of vibration from the fan to the plenum. The plenum is designed with deflector and equalisers to minimise noise discharge and ensure even air distribution across the face of the filter respectively. Inlet cone is mounted to the plenum on the suction side of the fan to improve performance. Sealant used is non-outgassing, which is suitable for electronic cleanroom operations.

Fan
The fan consists of an external-rotor motor fixed within a backward curved impeller which is dynamically balanced in two planes. Centrifugal backward curved impeller is used for better air distribution and quieter operation.

As it contains integrated bearings, the motor is short and make for a very compact fan filter unit. The singular integration of the rotating parts permits precision balancing and reduces mechanical stress on the breaing tremendously. Both the motor and the impeller are cooled with optimal efficiency, being positioned directly at the centre of the air stream they generate, which, of course, increases the life cycle of the unit. The ball bearings used in the motor are completely maintenance-free and is designed for a minimum life cycle of 40,000 hours. The fan rotates in the clockwise direction as seen on the suction side. The fan is available with AC motor for standalone operation or electronically commutated DC motors, also referred to as the “EC motors”. Lamiflo is available with different AC fan option as shown in Table 1 (below).
EC motors are maintenance-free and highly efficient. The EC-operated FFU is ideally suited for intergration with external electronic for central monitoring and control. The electronic in the EC motors allows it to take on additional functions, such as speed setting, alarm function and closed-loop speed control.

Filter
Replaceable filters are available in standard sizes, thicknesses and different efficiencies to suit different types of clean room applications. The Hepa filter is a separateless minipleat filter of 99.97% to 99.99% efficiency at 0.3 micron. The Ulpa filter, on the other hand, has efficiencies ranging from 99.999% to 99.99999% at 0.1 micron. Both have initial pressure loss as low as 78 pascals, thereby reducing energy costs and noise. It is contructed of glass fibre media pleated and contained within a profile natural anodised extruded aluminum frame. The sturdy aluminum frame and the polyester urethane sealer used to seal the edges of the media ensure no air leakage through the filter. As a standard, the filter media is protected with natural anodised aluminum screen on the downstram side and 14mm × 5mm fire-resistant EPDM gasket are applied to both edges of the filter frame. Both side protection net is available upon request. Every filter is factory tested for pressure loss and scanned for leak to maintain our guarantee of leak free operation. As an option the Lamiflo may be supplied with clips to hold down the fan plenum.

Accessories
Pre-filter may be supplied upon request. The pre-filter has a washable media that is inserted within an extruded aluminum frame. The pre-filter is clipped onto the fan mounting plate and can be easily removed for cleaning. Initial resistance of prefilter is less than 15 pascals. Average atmospheric dust spot efficiency of the pre-filter is 20%.
Cooling coils may be built into the plenum to provide an independent cooling system for separate clean room environment, which may be needed for different operation.

Speed Controller
A manual variable speed controller is supplied as a standard which allows the fan speed to be adjusted from stationary to full speed of the motor. This allows for more precise control of the disired airflow.

Performance
Lamiflo has been tested with different fan options. Noise levels are measured without sound absorption material within the fan plenum. If lower noise level is required, please consult our experts.

Application
Lamiflo is one of the most reliable fan filter units that may be used for controlloing airborne particulates and air distribution in clean room environment that is so essential for the production of semiconductors and sub-assembly of electronic devices and instruments, and to meet demand for high sterility and purity in drugs production and germ-free atmospheres for medical and biological applications. It may be used in all types of clean room from class 100,000 to class 1 with appropriate filters. It is used in the cleam room installed on the ceiling grid or workstation.

Intelligent System
The intelligent system consists of fan filter units with highly efficient EC motors, external electronic controllers, repeaters and a desktop computer linked together with twist pair cable. This system is ideal for large systems consisting of a large number of fan filter units.

Additional Features
High efficiency, very low power consumption, hence, long term saving in cost and fast amortization.
Alarm warning allows one to pin point faulty FFU instantly ensuring all FFU functioning at all times thus saving time during trouble shooting.
Variable fan speed can be adjusted with analogue or digital input.
Fan speed can be adjusted as a group or individually in the comfort of the control room saving significant man-hours.

As many as 7900 may be linked together via the LON BUS system to a desktop computer for control and monitoring. A typical system is shown on the right.
